PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear School Community,

Welcome to the 2021 school year.

I would like to begin by introducing myself. My name is Muhammed Aksu. I was born into a Turkish family in Wollongong, a small city located on the South Coast of New South Wales. I have worked in various cities across Australia in the different sister schools of Sirius College. I was lucky enough to receive the position of Principal of Sirius College, Shepparton campus, and I’m excited to be in Shepparton together with you all.

I will take this opportunity to thank our students, teachers, general staff and parents for working together to face the challenges of last year's disrupted school year.

Sincere thanks also to the school staff for helping me adapt to life at Shepparton Campus in a fast and effective manner.

As you are well aware, the effects of the Covid 19 based disruption of learning last year was an unprecedented event in living memory. With this in mind, Sirius College is committed to getting our students to catch up with the learning that they may have missed out on in 2020. This is reflected in our choice to change timetabling in the junior primary school, aiming to provide extra literacy and numeracy lessons to help cover the learning that students may have missed out on last year.

Outside of the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we will continue to strive to make our school a safe, enjoyable and nurturing environment for your children. We hope to continue to help them learn about the world around them, while also learning about their culture and backgrounds.

Besides the normal learning activities in our classrooms and campus, we have a number of projects to maintain and upgrade at the Shepparton campus itself, ranging from new fencing to upgrading playgrounds and other equipment. We are committed to providing a great school experience for your children.

We will be having a ‘New Parent Induction’ session on Wednesday the 3rd of March. If you are new parent at our school, you are asked to make sure you attend this session.

We will work together to make 2021 a great year for our students and school community.

Hope to see you soon.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aksu
Principal
